I like the digital/PLL tuner. It locks to the station, and the signals come in pretty strong... (although the signal becomes weaker when charging, for some reason...) also, there is no provision for external antennas. I''m glad they stayed away from an analog tuner. those are obnoxious.

SOUND QUALITY/VOLUME:

Stereo speakers on the front provide crisp mids/highs, and a single woofer on the back provides reasonable bass response and transient definition... the woofer is off to one side, so it destroys the stereo image, but you wouldn''t notice unless it is pointed right at your face...

It seems as though the volume control goes beyond what is reasonable. it starts to distort above "20", but it is probably meant for weak signals.

I wish there was a dedicated analog volume control pot, instead, you must press and hold the < or > key to enter "volume change" mode. you can tap the buttons to make finer adjustments, or continue holding to make large volume changes. I believe the volume is a digitally controlled analog pot, but i didn''t check. it works pretty well.

The only thing that bothers me is the auto-ducking when the signal is lost. It is too agressive for my tastes, and it can be annoying when listening to a weak signal (more annoying than static?)

CONNECTIVITY:

There is a USB C port which appears to be strictly a power port. There is a USB A port which can be used to power another device (even while charging!). It is unclear whether either port can connect to a thumb drive or a computer. (and i haven''t tried it yet)

There is a micro SD card slot, which I haven''t tried out. I assume it can play mp3s and wav files (and hopefully ogg/flac files?). I hope it can record from the radio, but I have no idea. There was no instruction manual with my radio...

THERE ARE NO ANALOG INS/OUTS...

I was pretty bummed by this, i was hoping/expecting there would be 3.5mm headphone and line in jacks... but there aren''t... that sucks...

oh well, it''s pretty awesome all around, and it''s definitely worth $30-$40, especially if you need a loudish boombox that is still small enough to hang from your backpack or even your belt loop (maybe?). supposedly it''s "waterproof" but i wouldn''t dunk it in the pool... probably splash/rain resistant though.

If the same company makes a larger version with more connectivity/features, I''ll prolly get one.
